Joseph Alfred Vigneron, French Violin Bow, c.1890

A virtually mint condition violin bow by Alfred Vigneron modelled on the Viorin style he was influenced by at this time. Born in Mirecourt, Vigneron studied under Claude Husson before moving to Paris around 1880. He was a prolific maker who both worked for, and supplied bows to, several famous establishments with the result that his bows often bear the stamp of these shops.

This bow bears his own stamp … “A. VIGNERON A PARIS” … on the nearside facet of the handle. It comprises an octagonal pernambuco stick with silver mounted ebony frog which is decorated with pearl eyes; the three-piece button of silver/ebony/silver, capped with a pearl eye. It weighs 61gm.

A fantastic playing bow by one of the great French masters, increasingly rare, this bow would be ideally suited to the dedicated amateur,  advanced student or professional player looking for a fine bow and good investment potential.
